WordPress Website Design

Many people inquiring about a new site or a site upgrade are looking to manage their website content themselves. This is a great idea, and gives content control over to the customer, where it belongs. Building a modern website that allows users to update their content requires a database and dynamic programming. WordPress is our platform of choice for building content-managed sites. All new websites we build with WordPress incorporate Responsive Design technology so the site works well on all screens, from smartphones to desktop computers.

Why WordPress?

WordPress was initially developed for blogging and has matured into a robust content-management system for web content. WordPress supports all of the functionality required for a blog or a website, such as: secure user login, writing new content, editing existing content, managing users, organizing content, and much more. WordPress is Open-Source software, which means it’s free to use.

WordPress is an extendable framework — it is designed to allow plugins to extend its core capabilities. Shopping carts, map functions, calendars, interactive forms, media players, social media feeds — these are examples of plugins that can be used within a WordPress site. Hundreds of free and low-cost plugins make it easy for us to add complex functionality to our sites without having to ‘reinvent the wheel’ each time.

We have test-driven all of the popular content management systems, and have found WordPress to have the most intuitive user interface and controls. This makes site management easier for our clients. Editors of a WordPress-based site will not need to know any HTML code or programming to edit their pages. Sound good?

How Do I Use WordPress?

  1. Log in
  2. Add or edit content
  3. Upload images from your desktop
  4. Make links
  5. Click ‘Publish’
  6. You’re done!

WordPress is an application running on the server hosting your site. To make edits to your site, you will log onto your site from any internet-connected computer. The editing interface is similar in appearance and function to a typical word processing program. You will make your edits, write a new post or article, upload new pictures, then click ‘publish’. Your changes are immediately visible on the Web! Our clients find WordPress to be quick to learn and easy to use, making it painless to update your site on a regular basis.

Tutorial & Documentation

When your website site is finished and launched, we schedule a tutorial session to teach you how to edit your new site and how the various features work. We also create a written user guide specifically for your website that walks you through the steps of managing your site content. Our goal is to make it easy to update your website so you can concentrate on the other aspects of running your business.
